READ College is based in Reading, and is a leading UK Performing Arts College providing Sixth Form and Foundation Courses, with the highest success rates in the industry for placing students at Drama School/Dance College when they graduate. We have a 100% success rate to date of getting our 6th Form Graduates into colleges including Arts Ed, Mountview, Urdang and London Studio Centre!
Our 2 Year 6th Form in the Performing Arts – delivered at our home in St Bart’s Theatre, Reading – is aimed specifically at talented young performers who aspire to have a career in the arts either as an Actor or as a Musical Theatre Performer. Students acheive the equivalent UCAS points to gaining 3 A-Levels by studying the BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma, but unlike most other Sixth Form Colleges, at READ you are working with the top people in the theatre industry. You can find out more about our teaching faculty by clicking here…
Over 27 hours per week of contact time is given to all of our 6th Form students, and the course is tailor-made to suit the students that we have each year.
We are pleased to be one of the first centres to roll out the new 2016 BTEC qualifications in both Acting and Musical Theatre, which have been completely redesigned in consultation with leading Drama Schools and Dance Colleges to make them as industry-relevent as possible.
Our 6th Form in Performing Arts allows you to choose 2 pathways – Acting or Musical Theatre. The classes that you take and the BTEC qualification units that you study are specifically shaped towards your goal of getting in to either a top Drama School or a top Dance/Musical Theatre College when you graduate, and we only accept 15 students onto the course as a whole. This has led to over 96% of our graduates being offered places at the UK’s top dance and drama colleges when they graduate from our courses, and you can find out more about their successes by visiting our Wall of Fame!
As the courses continue, students are encouraged to widen their knowledge of the theatre industry as a whole, meeting and working with professional performers, directors, musical directors, choreographers etc, and also benefitting from workshops with tutors from many of the leading dance and drama colleges.

“Training young performers is key to their future success, and if you’re going to get a place at a top dance or drama college then you need an edge over the competition right from the start. That’s why the course at Read is so important.”
