News from Read College:

Read College is pleased to be teaming up with The Stage Newspaper to provide two full scholarships, one for Musical Theatre and one for Acting, in 2013. Visit our Fees & Funding page for more details.

About Read College...

Since 2001, Read College has been providing Foundation Training for students wishing to pursue a career in the Performing Arts, whether purely as an actor or as a ‘triple-threat’ musical theatre performer.  Our intensive, one-year Foundation Courses in Musical Theatre and Acting are unique in their approach, with a full 100% of our students gaining places at top national dance colleges and drama schools for the last 2 years.

Unlike many other foundation courses, we are neither attached to a larger three-year course, nor do we offer a lot of other part-time courses – the students on our Foundation Course in Acting, and Foundation Course in Musical Theatre, are the focus of what we do.  Our independence means that we can offer unbiased advice to students on further courses, feeding them into the colleges that will suit them best, and tailoring their training with us to maximise their chances of gaining a place and getting funding. Our Board of Advisors ensure that the training we offer stays up-to-date with what the industry requires, with members of the board representing Mountview, GSA, Arts Ed and London Studio Centre as well as top London casting directors and agents.  You can read more about our Advisors and our expert Teaching Faculty here...

Our numbers are kept deliberately small so that we can focus on every single student in the year group and help them to tailor their training effectively. Students across both the Musical Theatre and Acting Foundation Courses are given the most up-to-date advice on where to audition and how to present themselves during our regular audition preparation classes, where guest teachers from top Drama and Dance Colleges all over the UK come to Read College and share their experience.

Our Mission:

We will produce professional, well trained students, with knowledge of all aspects of their industry, and we aim to give young people the best start to their career by preparing them to audition for further training and by forming links with industry professionals.  We will provide young people with the tools to enable them to manage themselves in further training both personally and professionally, and as a college we aim to constantly develop and innovate.

“ I had been auditioning for colleges for three years, and
hadn’t got a place. Now, after my year at Read, I’ve been
offered five places at my top choices and I’ve got to decide
where to accept!”
